The Student Loan People is committed to attracting outstanding employees by providing benefits and programs
that bridge the gap between work and family obligations. Benefits
available to full-time employees working at least 100 hours a month are:
Cafeteria Plan
The Student Loan People's benefit package is structured under a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan, which includes
flexible spending accounts that allow you to put money aside on a tax-free basis for reimbursement or qualified
medical and dependent care expenses.
Kentucky Employee Retirement System (KERS)
The KERS retirement plan is designed to give you long-term security after you retire. It also contains valuable
benefits for your named beneficiary. Your mandatory, tax-free contribution to your retirement plan is 5%
of your base salary, which is automatically deducted from your paycheck.
Incentive Saving Plan (401K and 457)
The Deferred Compensation program lets you defer "pre-tax" income from your annual compensation towards
a 401(k) and/or 457 retirement plan. There is no Corporation match with this plan.
11 1/2 Holidays per Year
Vacation Time
Annual allowed leave is on a graduated system based on years of service with the Corporation. New employees
receive twelve vacation days per year earned at a rate of one day per month.
Sick Days
Employees may accrue twelve days of allowed sick leave per year earned at the rate
of one day per month.
Compensatory Time
The Corporation will grant eligible employees time off for hours worked beyond those that are regularly scheduled.
Short-term Disability
Allows you to receive 70 percent of your full salary, if eligible, for up to 90 days for the time that a medically
documented illness, condition, or injury would prevent you from performing your regular job duties. This
is a Corporation-paid benefit.
Long-term Disability
Allows you to receive 60 percent of your full salary, if eligible, after 90 days of disability, for the time
that a medically documented illness, condition, or injury would prevent you from performing your regular
job duties. This is a Corporation paid benefit.
Health Insurance
Provided through the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Group Health Insurance Plan.
Dental Insurance
Provided through Guardian Dental Plan.
Basic Life Insurance
Basic life insurance, paid by the Corporation, provides you with $20,000 of life insurance coverage.
Optional Life Insurance
You may purchase additional life insurance coverage. Cost and
coverage are determined by the plan you select.
Dependent Life Insurance
You may purchase dependent life insurance coverage through the Commonwealth of Kentucky life insurance program. Cost and coverage are
determined by the plan you select.
Educational Assistance Program
The Corporation will grant educational assistance for approved, job-related degree programs, up to the amount of tuition approved by the Internal Revenue Service as tax exempt.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
You and your immediate dependents may receive one to six counseling sessions per presented problem, per year,
from the Corporation's EAP provider.
Flexible Work Schedule
Within specified guidelines and after six months of continuous employment, you may request to work a flexible
schedule that meets your individual needs.
Childcare Referral
A listing of nearby licensed child-care facilities is available to interested employees through the Employee
Assistance Program.
Bereavement Leave
Employees will be allowed up to 3 days of paid bereavement leave for a death in the employee's immediate family.
Adoption Assistance
Employees adopting a child will receive a benefit of up to $3,000 per family toward direct cost related to the adoption
of a child and up to $5,000 for any special needs child adoption.
